Janet Stevens BSc (Hons) MBAcC, MBAA
Hello, I am Janet Stevens and I studied for 3 years at the Northern College of Acupuncture in York and graduated with a BSc (Hons) degree in Acupuncture awarded by Middlesex University in 2020.
For 2 years of my training I worked within a community clinic in Lancaster, supporting the acupuncturists, whilst honing and developing my practical skills. This is where I first met and worked alongside Sandra. I loved this experience and I now continue to work as a fully qualified acupuncturist in the Lancaster community clinic. I am passionate that acupuncture should be accessible to as many people as possible through both one to one practice, home visits and multi-bed community clinics.
I love using acupuncture to help improve health and wellbeing as I see it being able to treat a wide range of conditions. I have a special interest in working with pregnant women using acupuncture to support the mind and body throughout pregnancy. I am also able to teach my pregnant patients how to use acupressure to help them through their labour.
My dissertation in university looked at the use of acupuncture for helping adults with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), this was an interesting investigation. There have been several studies, whilst the studies were not robust enough, some evidence does show there can be some benefit when treating ADHD (not just children) with acupuncture.
Continued Professional Development (CPD) and learning is important for any good Acupuncture Therapist and I enjoy expanding my knowledge base to discover new ways to help my patients. I am currently undertaking the NADA Training which is an auricular acupuncture therapy particularly effective in the treatment of addiction, anxiety, weight loss, smoking cessation, and stress.
I look forward to working with you to help you move towards a healthier and happy version of yourself.
